I'm a big advocate of innocent until proven guilty when it comes to roids...I'm in agreement with you that it probably was, but the moment I see his name on the 2003 list, I'm assuming the best.

I have got to say that the team batting stats with TP in charge should be the best way to gauge what he is doing with what he has. So, the analysis made a lot of sense to me.

Unfortunately, it would only be incriminating to credit TP for Javy Lopez's success since Lopez seems like one of the poster children in the 'Roid Era. Maybe TP needs to get in touch with A-Rod's Trainer to help the team's BA. At least the HR totals would improve, right?

You can't cherry pick 3 players, 2 of whom you provided legitimate excuses for, and say "well they're sucking, Terry isn't doing anything right!" What about a player like Adam LaRoche, who was never a huge power hitter in the minors, and then became an absolute stud after a couple of years of working with Terry and maturing before falling back down to the land of the average when he left Atlanta? Or Johnny Estrada, who went from a dogshit backup catcher in Philly to winning a silver slugger his first full season in Atlanta? Or Javy Lopez exploding for the best year of his career the year after TP shows up?

I guess we need to blame Bobby Cox then. His managerial chops have not been sharpened in quite some time. He is not in step with the modern game and when you don't have the right type of players for that mentality the team suffers.

I agree with Bravesfan. If the hitting coach isn't on the same page, the guys can't stand listening to him and nothing he says will help them. Pendleton constantly butted heads with Andruw Jones. Andruw Jones is doing much better with a new hitting coach. There is not one player that anyone has reported on any blog or article where it was said that Terry Pendleton is the reason he can hit better. I just wish Francouer would stop swinging at ball four with the bases loaded. It is impossible to hit a low pitch out of the infield. Terry Pendleton is all about being agressive to a fault.

Your team stats are great and all but inherently flawed when looking at how well a hitting coach is doing. I'd like to look at individual hitter accomplishments and failures under Pendleteon. Please point out what players he's worked with closely that he has helped? Ones that come to mind recently are KJ, Francoeur and Schafer. KJ was well publiced how we worked with TP during the off-season after his stellar 2007 campaign. Ever since, he's gotten progressively worse. Francoeur has gone to a Jaramillo because TP was not helping. Franceour may be a lost cause regardless and Schafer may have not been ready and/or injured. I can not think of any players he has helped, so please fill me in. (Chipper, Sheffield, Drew and other established hitters do not count.) McCann is well known to not use TP's services. Excuses should not be tolerated at this level.

Excellent work. I put together a list of guys who had become quality hitters or who had career years upon arriving here under Pendleton, and it was a decent list that included guys like Marcus Giles, Brian Jordan, Matt Diaz, Julio Franco, and Brian McCann. When I asked about the players who had shown quality skills in the minors and either failed to develop or regressed, there was one answer: Kelly Johnson.
