I think I understand trades better than most and that was my opinion right or wrong.

Healthy debate is good, as long as it is imformative and clean. But if this blog is one that we will have a school monitor on to call one down because of an opinion, then maybe I need to reconsider.

Some on here need to learn a thing or two about how trades work. wanting more doesn't mean you're going to get it!
Six starters and someone had to go. The reports I read said NO ONE was willing to take Lowe without the Braves paying 1/2 his salary, and no team except the Yankees was willing to add a $10 mil+ starter through trade. Add the fact that Vasquez is a one year rental and it's obvious Wren wasn't in the position to "demand" anything!
A pitcher having ONE Cy Young caliber season, (out of 12), does not make him CY YOUNG!

Don't disagree with anything said, however we all knew it would be hard to move Lowe with what they are paying him. Secondly if the Yankees really wanted Vazquez then why couldn't we demand Swisher or no deal. Besides they were the ones who needed pitching based on their statements. But I hope Wren has a plan, because the big right handed bat has not been seen so far!!!!!

Dunn's got horrible control, but a LIVE FASTBALL. So...Macay McBride? Melky isn't even a good hitter, his career OPS is something like .716. Thats below replacement level.

I'll agree that Vizcaino is the key to the deal, but did we really desperately need another young Latin pitching prospect? They're not a bad thing to have obviously, but it just kind of strikes me as odd that he'd be a key to trading a top 5 NL pitcher last year.

In a year Vazquez will FA eligible (Type A) I would imagine, the Yanks will offer arbitration and Javy will decline and net the Yank two hig drafts picks fopr 2011. Loo slike the Braves traded Vazquez AND Two High Draft Picks for Melky and two young arms....hmmmmmmm

It appears as though Vizcaino is the key to the deal. He was just recently listed as the #3 prospect in the Yankees system, and the Yankees have a decent minor league system.

Melky might not be a great hitter, but he's a good one, and he's a very good defender (better than McLouth, at least). At the very least, you picked up a guy who can upgrade your outfield (as Melky is better than Anderson), a guy who projects to be a good left-handed reliever (Dunn) and a top pitching prospect (Vizcaino) while shedding $11 million.

This is not a great trade for the Braves, but it is also not an awful one, either.

Excuse my language, but I FUCKING HATE THIS!

Talk about a fleecing. Wren got taken out behind the wood shed. What a fucking disaster...

Guess this means Lowe is staying now? As unhappy as he is? A complete and utter disaster.

Wren just lost me as a supporter.
